This wasn’t just about creating another visually stunning installation. It was about reimagining materials, optimizing costs, and preserving the signature look and feel of luxury—all while meeting tight timelines and sustainability goals.
The Brief: Luxury, Motion & Material Precision
Our brand partner sought a dynamic, animated podium to support a fragrance campaign, with a premium aesthetic that would align with its global brand guidelines. The original design specified high-cost imported materials such as Italian marble, specialty brushed metals, and energy-intensive lighting components.
While the brief demanded high-end visuals, the budget and supply constraints (particularly post-COVID and amid ongoing global shipping delays) called for a more agile and localized solution.
The Solution: Local Substitution with Global Style
Through a meticulous value engineering process, our team identified locally available alternatives that matched the intended finish and performance—without compromising the overall experience.
Here’s how we did it:
✔️ Substituting Materials with Precision
- Brushed Metal Panels → Replaced with locally fabricated aluminium composite sheets finished with a high-grade, brush-textured paint finish or vinyl wrap depending on the location —offering the same tactile finish at 40% lower cost.
- Marble Base Detail → Swapped for recycled stone-finish texturized wallpaper panels treated with a marbling technique that mimicked the real material at a fraction of the weight and price.
- Custom Lightboxes → Redesigned using energy-efficient LED modules with motion sensors, cutting down on energy usage while still delivering a luxurious ambient glow.
✔️ Maintaining Brand Integrity
We worked closely with the brand’s creative and visual merchandising teams to ensure the final podium upheld the brand’s luxury codes, down to the smallest design cues—from colour fidelity to material texture and lighting temperature.
